Amanda NewtonChief Operating Officer & Chief Marketing Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Renew Recovery, Amanda Newton provides leadership to ensure growth, operational excellence and care that changes people’s lives. In 2019, Ms. Newton designed and implemented the first ever In-Home Addiction treatment program. This innovative treatment approach has been nationally recognized as a game changer in the addiction space. She serves at a local and state level to design quality metrics for addiction treatment and advocate for treatment provider alignment.
Prior to joining Renew, she held a senior leadership role as the VP of Marketing and Business Development for Centerstone Kentucky. Centerstone is the largest community mental health provider in the state, serving 40,000 lives annually and employing 2,000 staff. She has worked in the behavioral healthcare field since 1998. During her career, she has worked in various roles in pharmaceuticals, lobbying, consulting, direct patient care, operations, and business development. She has served on the boards of the Mental Health Association-KY (MHA), the Treatment Advisory Committee, the Addiction Policy Advocacy Committee, the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) and the Kentuckiana Childcare Coalition (KCCC). She has received a Master’s Degree from the University of Louisville in Psychology.
Rachel has been with the company since its conception. She has held multiple roles within Renew from Clinic Assistant to Director of Operations before beginning her current role as HR Director. Rachel is known as the fixer and enjoys overcoming obstacles. She immensely enjoys helping people, both clients and team members alike, through direct interaction. Rachel is a Central KY native and has firsthand experience with how important this work is.
LindseyDirector of In-Home Programs
Lindsey started with Renew Recovery in 2019. Lindsey has worked in the social services field since 2012. She began her career working with the US Army in their social services department until she obtained her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. During this time, Lindsey worked in various clinical roles where she provided career counseling, intensive home-based therapy to families in crisis, and therapeutic interventions for children and families in foster care. Lindsey transitioned from work with families to substance use treatment in 2017 when she implemented and operated an intensive outpatient program for adults diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health. Lindsey is passionate about learning everything she can in her field so that she can share the knowledge with peers and clients, ultimately helping as many people as she can. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys being outdoors with her three rescue dogs, writing, painting, and cooking.
DinaMarketing & Business Development Representative
Dina started with Renew Recovery in 2018. Dina has worked in the behavioral healthcare field since 2006. During her career she has worked in various roles in marketing and business development, care delivery, alcohol and drug treatment counseling, in-home therapy, individual and group therapist and as a family group facilitator. She has served on the boards of Operation Parent, the Employee Assistance Professionals (EAPA) and Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM). She has been actively involved with Kentucky Lawyers Assistance Program (KLAP), Labor Assistance Professionals (LAP) and the Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association (KPMA).
Dina is a graduate of the University of Louisville Kent School in 2008 with a Masters in Social Work. She also obtained her Social Work certification license in 2009. Her hobbies are spending time with her husband and children, painting furniture and card making.
KellyDirector of Operations
Kelly started with Renew Recovery in 2019. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2006, and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville in 2009. Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), with supervision capabilities. Kelly has worked in the field of behavioral health and addictions services since 2009. Her roles have included direct client care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, and most recently she helped develop and managed the Clinical Triage Center for Addictions Services at Centerstone of Kentucky.
Kelly is hardworking, optimistic, and identifies herself as a helper. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her dog, and traveling.
StanCertified Peer Support Specialist
Stan Milburn is a Certified Peer Support Specialist. He has been in recovery for five years. He is passionate about helping people better their lives in any way possible. He brings recovery to all areas of his life and continues to grow as a father, a brother, an employee, a friend, and a mentor. He believes recovery takes shapes in many forms and the possibilities are endless for himself and others.
PatrickClinical Services Supervisor
Patrick joined the Renew Recovery team in 2015, but he has been in this profession since 2012. He is a licensed professional clinical counselor and certified rehabilitation counselor. The best part of Patrick’s job is being able to see clients not only become sober but learn how to maintain that sobriety long term so that they improve their overall quality of life. He also enjoys the ability to work with clients in the outpatient setting. Patrick believes this treatment type allows them to make progress and continually work on their recovery goals.
Jordan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and has been working with Renew since September 2019. Jordan grew up in the land of hipsters and coffee shops in Portland, Oregon and has been living in Kentucky since 2018. Jordan utilizes a blend of techniques in his counseling and emphasizes the role of coping skills and personal awareness as tools to help deal with life’s ups and downs. Jordan believes that all people have the ability to make positive changes and values therapy as a means to walk alongside someone who may be struggling. When he’s not in the counseling room Jordan fills his down time with video games, podcasts, cooking and baking, and celebrating nerd culture.
Dr. Kronenberg is a board-certified anesthesiologist and is board certified in addiction medicine. He has been a part of the Renew Recovery team for over 10 years. Dr. Kronenberg knew he wanted to use his skills and knowledge to do something worthwhile, which is why he chose to help clients struggling with addiction, and our clients love him because he takes the time to listen and help in the best way that he can. If you ask Dr. Kronenberg what his favorite part of the job is, he will tell you that it’s seeing patients’ lives get so much better. In addition to the work he is doing at Renew Recovery, he is also Treasurer of the Kentucky Society of Addiction Medicine. During his free time, Dr. Kronenberg enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with his wife and kids.
Dr. Hammerbeck has been in psychiatric practice for 26 years. She has also been a provider and specialist of addiction medicine for 12 years. Dr. Hammerback is a Louisville native and an alumnus of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. With Dr. Hammerbeck joining the team, this will help expand coverage to those needing psychiatric and/or addiction treatment. She’s married and has three adult children.
Dr. Johnson started with Renew Recovery this year and has provided leadership with the in-home program. She completed her medical training at the University of Louisville. She is board certified in Adult and Addiction Psychiatry. She has worked in multiple clinical settings including academics, residential substance use disorder programs, and private practice outpatient practice. Dr. Johnson continues to hold a Gratis faculty appointment at the University of Louisville. She has held state and national leadership roles in the mental health field. Dr. Johnson is passionate about mental health treatment with special interest in women’s issues and addiction. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Price is a 3rd year resident in the psychiatry department at the University of Louisville. She currently holds a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences and a Master’s of Healthcare Administration from Walden University. Dr. Price will finish residency in the summer of 2021. She is currently considering a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the completion of her residency. Prior to moonlighting at Renew, Dr. Price had experience moonlighting at Owensboro Hospital where she ran the psychiatric inpatient and consult services. In her free time, Dr. Price enjoys traveling and exploring new places. Don’t be offended if she asks you your name more than once – she has a hard time remembering names but can remember a face for years to come.
Dr. Norton was raised just south of Nashville, TN. She got her medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2010 and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine Psychiatric Residency Program in 2014. After graduation, she and her family moved to her hometown in Tennessee so she could go into practice with her father who is also a psychiatrist. This was a wonderful experience, but she missed the city of Louisville too much and decided it was time to move back. She works full time at The Brook Hospital and is very interested in Women’s Mental Health and Addiction Medicine. She is also a Gratis Faculty member of the University of Louisville Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.
Dr. Wells is a board-certified anesthesiologist with a special interest in addiction medicine. He has been a part of the Renew Recovery team since its inception. He knew he wanted to make a difference in the lives of patients struggling with addiction after witnessing first hand the difficulty of gaining access to treatment options. Dr. Wells is originally from West Virginia but now calls Kentucky his home. He enjoys spending time with his family in his spare time.
MarlettaAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse, Practice Provider
Marletta is a 2001 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University’s Rural Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Her past experience includes Primary Care, Acute Care, Urgent Care, and Community Health. She has experience in working with clients struggling with addiction across diverse clinical settings and is excited to be working with clients in treatment to assist them in their recovery. The most gratifying aspects of her work involve interacting with patients and providing care for them while watching their progress as they get better.
She is a resident of Southeastern Kentucky where she lives with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, riding ATV’s on the weekends, and lots of family time.
Stephanie S.Psych Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Stephanie was born in Barbourville, KY and raised in Corbin, KY. She graduated from Corbin High School before moving on to EKU where she later graduated with associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. She has a specialty as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Stephanie began her career in the medical field as a respiratory therapist working at UK. She has also worked in the emergency department, ICU, and cath lab as a nurse. Stephanie’s passion wasn’t found until she accepted a position as the director of a crisis unit at Cumberland River Comp. Care seven years ago. It was one of the most rewarding and challenging positions. Stephanie feels that she has found her calling. She truly loves her clients and her career, along with her hectic life. Every day is different, and she is thankful and grateful for each day. Stephanie looks forward to meeting everyone at Renew Recovery.
Stephanie is married with four children ranging in age from 21 to 3 years of age. Her oldest daughter is in the Army, and Stephanie is so proud. She loves cooking and drag racing. Stephanie, along with her husband and children, all drag race.
AdamAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse
Adam has been with Renew Recovery since August 2019. His past experience includes 20 years in emergency medicine in a variety of capacities and 18 years in the United States Army. His Family Nurse Practitioner Degree was obtained in 2008 from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Adam has personal and professional experience with addiction and hopes to provide compassionate care with an understanding of the difficulties of recovery.
Maxine began working as a counselor in 2010 and joined Renew Recovery four years later. She is a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor. She is continuously working to improve her knowledge through continuing education. The best part of her job is seeing all of the positive changes in the lives of her clients as they progress through their recovery journey. It’s like watching someone get their life back. Maxine has learned a lot about opioid addiction since starting at Renew Recovery and is always gaining new information that she hopes benefits her patients. In her time away from the clinic, Maxine enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her pets. She also likes to travel, read, visit music venues, and complete art and home projects.
JanetLicensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S)
Janet graduated from Xavier University in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Community Counseling and has been practicing in the field since then. She is licensed in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana as a supervising licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC-S), licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and as a clinical supervisor/licensed independent chemical dependency counselor (LICDC-CS). Janet has worked in all areas of dual recovery including community-based services, inpatient detox and psychiatric stabilization, program management, and as an adjunct instructor. Janet joined Renew in March 2019 and loves helping people develop the knowledge and skills to get sober, stay sober, and become the very best version of themselves that they can be. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, supporting local music, and reading.
Shawn joined our team at Renew Recovery in 2018, and he has been working diligently to help our clients thrive in recovery ever since. The best part of his job is knowing that he can make a difference in someone’s life. Shawn continuously seeks opportunities to learn more by taking courses in things like how the brain affects addition, spirituality in recovery, and how to best help patients during therapy. When he is not helping clients beat addiction, Shawn enjoys taking road trips, spending time with family and friends, and finding ways to relax.
Stephanie is an LCADC (licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor), a certified BIP (Batterers’ Intervention Program) provider, and a DUI (driving under influence) assessor. She has been a part of our team since 2017. In addition to her certifications, Stephanie has completed courses in suicide prevention and ethics. She loves seeing the ongoing change in people as they begin to recover. In her free time, Stephanie is planning to return to school to become a licensed nurse practitioner. She wants to continue working with clients who are battling addiction. Stephanie is a soccer mom who loves crocheting, making piñatas, and learning a second language!
Sarah is a Board Certified and Licensed Professional Art Therapist. She is originally from St. Louis, MO and went to the University of Louisville for graduate school. After completing her Master’s Degree, Sarah spent some time in Denver, CO and St. Louis before moving back to Louisville in 1999. She has been here ever since then and now considers it home. Sarah has worked with all ages (children, adolescents and adults) in a variety of settings including residential programs, educational institutions and home based therapy. Her most recent clinical experience has been with adults affected by substance use disorders and other co-occuring mental health issues. Sarah has two children, a 15 year old girl and a 12 year old boy, who could not be more different but manage to enjoy some family activities together such as game nights, cooking and baking and playing with their puppy. Sarah enjoys live music, Netflix and warm weather. Spending time with family and friends is important to her, as well as having some alone time to re-charge!
Shaquita is a licensed professional counselor associate who began working at Renew Recovery in 2017. She most enjoys her job when she can work with clients through direct care. She likes to guide clients to have a more positive quality of life by helping them understand their disease of addiction, which in turn helps them maintain their sobriety. In her free time, Shaquita loves spending time with her family, camping, watching sports (Go Philadelphia Eagles! Go UK!), watching movies, listening to music, and traveling.
Melissa joined the Renew Recovery team in 2016. She has a master’s in education degree and is a national certified counselor (NCC) and licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC). She keeps her training up to date with continuing education courses that range in topics including substance abuse and comorbidity. Melissa has worked with other medication-assisted treatment programs in the past, but she believes that Renew Recovery is the best. Our staff really cares and tries to help clients succeed. The best part of Melissa’s job is seeing a client make progress and rebuild their life. When she’s away from work, Melissa enjoys being at home with her family. She also makes time to read and play video games.
DaraLicensed Clinical Social Worker
Dara joined the team at Renew Recovery, LLC on October 1, 2018. Dara received her Bachelors in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University in 2012 and completed her Masters in Social Work at the University of Louisville in 2013. Dara enjoys working with clients in the outpatient setting where she is able to work on long term, individualized goals and see growth and behavior changes in her clients. Dara loves to bring creativity, compassion, and connection in each client interaction she has. Dara has training and experience in a multitude of evidence-based practices including CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, and more.
