Amanda NewtonChief Operating Officer & Chief Marketing Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Renew Recovery, Amanda Newton provides leadership to ensure growth, operational excellence and care that changes people’s lives. In 2019, Ms. Newton designed and implemented the first ever In-Home Addiction treatment program. This innovative treatment approach has been nationally recognized as a game changer in the addiction space. She serves at a local and state level to design quality metrics for addiction treatment and advocate for treatment provider alignment.
Prior to joining Renew, she held a senior leadership role as the VP of Marketing and Business Development for Centerstone Kentucky. Centerstone is the largest community mental health provider in the state, serving 40,000 lives annually and employing 2,000 staff. She has worked in the behavioral healthcare field since 1998. During her career, she has worked in various roles in pharmaceuticals, lobbying, consulting, direct patient care, operations, and business development. She has served on the boards of the Mental Health Association-KY (MHA), the Treatment Advisory Committee, the Addiction Policy Advocacy Committee, the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) and the Kentuckiana Childcare Coalition (KCCC). She has received a Master’s Degree from the University of Louisville in Psychology.
Rachel has been with the company since its conception. She has held multiple roles within Renew from Clinic Assistant to Director of Operations before beginning her current role as HR Director. Rachel is known as the fixer and enjoys overcoming obstacles. She immensely enjoys helping people, both clients and team members alike, through direct interaction. Rachel is a Central KY native and has firsthand experience with how important this work is.
LindseyDirector of In-Home Programs
Lindsey started with Renew Recovery in 2019. Lindsey has worked in the social services field since 2012. She began her career working with the US Army in their social services department until she obtained her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. During this time, Lindsey worked in various clinical roles where she provided career counseling, intensive home-based therapy to families in crisis, and therapeutic interventions for children and families in foster care. Lindsey transitioned from work with families to substance use treatment in 2017 when she implemented and operated an intensive outpatient program for adults diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health. Lindsey is passionate about learning everything she can in her field so that she can share the knowledge with peers and clients, ultimately helping as many people as she can. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys being outdoors with her three rescue dogs, writing, painting, and cooking.
Patrick joined the Renew Recovery team in 2015, but he has been in this profession since 2012. He is a licensed professional clinical counselor and certified rehabilitation counselor. The best part of Patrick’s job is being able to see clients not only become sober but learn how to maintain that sobriety long term so that they improve their overall quality of life. He also enjoys the ability to work with clients in the outpatient setting. Patrick believes this treatment type allows them to make progress and continually work on their recovery goals.
KellyDirector of Operations
Kelly started with Renew Recovery in 2019. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2006, and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville in 2009. Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), with supervision capabilities. Kelly has worked in the field of behavioral health and addictions services since 2009. Her roles have included direct client care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, and most recently she helped develop and managed the Clinical Triage Center for Addictions Services at Centerstone of Kentucky.
Kelly is hardworking, optimistic, and identifies herself as a helper. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her dog, and traveling.
NinaRevenue Cycle Director
Nina has demonstrated success in the health care field as both an administrator and consultant for over 17 years. In that time she has worked in various management positions including state government, an MCO company, and a laboratory. She has led with a very hands-on approach to the daily operations of these organizations and has developed proven strategies in the management of billing, credentialing, budgeting, marketing, contracting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and strategic planning.
Nina’s expertise allows her to provide a range of operational services, including experience working in the areas of revenue cycle management, operations improvement, Medical Billing & Collection – performing all day to day billing functions, including claims submission, payment posting, claims follow-up, patient statements, claims appeals, grievances, and financial accounting. While working with a wide range of health care organizations, she developed an understanding of Medicare reimbursement and payment methodologies, including a focus on compliance regulations.
Nina is a licensed Pastor who cofounded a church with her husband Danny. Together they have also established an organizational outreach that clothes, feeds, and provides additional services to several hundred families each week across Central KY.
They have three grown children and two grandchildren.
StanDirector of Patient Engagement
Stan Milburn is a Certified Peer Support Specialist. He has been in recovery for five years. He is passionate about helping people better their lives in any way possible. He brings recovery to all areas of his life and continues to grow as a father, a brother, an employee, a friend, and a mentor. He believes recovery takes shapes in many forms and the possibilities are endless for himself and others.
Ryan H.IT Director
Ryan began working at Renew Recovery in March of 2019. Prior to working at Renew Recovery, he worked as a manager at a residential treatment facility where he helped others by setting a positive example and sharing his own recovery experience. At Renew, Ryan has been able to grow his IT skills and help lead the company into the telehealth model. During time away from work he enjoys playing golf, running, and weekend trips. But more than anything, time with his family is most important and what he looks forward to everyday.
Dr. Peak is an Addiction Psychiatrist who works with individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders and mental health symptoms to improve vitality, restore functioning, and promote resilience. She believes treatment plans must be evidence-based, individualized, integrative, and should address the loss of intimate connections in an individual’s life. Dr. Peak has worked in hospital settings, private practice, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, detoxification and rehabilitation centers, and is up-to-date on evidence-based medication management and psychodynamic therapy. She is board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and completed residency training at the University of Louisville. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Kentucky. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and playing clarinet.
Dr. Johnson started with Renew Recovery this year and has provided leadership with the in-home program. She completed her medical training at the University of Louisville. She is board certified in Adult and Addiction Psychiatry. She has worked in multiple clinical settings including academics, residential substance use disorder programs, and private practice outpatient practice. Dr. Johnson continues to hold a Gratis faculty appointment at the University of Louisville. She has held state and national leadership roles in the mental health field. Dr. Johnson is passionate about mental health treatment with special interest in women’s issues and addiction. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Price is a 3rd year resident in the psychiatry department at the University of Louisville. She currently holds a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences and a Master’s of Healthcare Administration from Walden University. Dr. Price will finish residency in the summer of 2021. She is currently considering a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at the completion of her residency. Prior to moonlighting at Renew, Dr. Price had experience moonlighting at Owensboro Hospital where she ran the psychiatric inpatient and consult services. In her free time, Dr. Price enjoys traveling and exploring new places. Don’t be offended if she asks you your name more than once – she has a hard time remembering names but can remember a face for years to come.
Dr. Norton was raised just south of Nashville, TN. She got her medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2010 and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine Psychiatric Residency Program in 2014. After graduation, she and her family moved to her hometown in Tennessee so she could go into practice with her father who is also a psychiatrist. This was a wonderful experience, but she missed the city of Louisville too much and decided it was time to move back. She works full time at The Brook Hospital and is very interested in Women’s Mental Health and Addiction Medicine. She is also a Gratis Faculty member of the University of Louisville Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.
Dr. Wells is a board-certified anesthesiologist with a special interest in addiction medicine. He has been a part of the Renew Recovery team since its inception. He knew he wanted to make a difference in the lives of patients struggling with addiction after witnessing first hand the difficulty of gaining access to treatment options. Dr. Wells is originally from West Virginia but now calls Kentucky his home. He enjoys spending time with his family in his spare time.
Stephanie S.Psych Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Stephanie was born in Barbourville, KY and raised in Corbin, KY. She graduated from Corbin High School before moving on to EKU where she later graduated with associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. She has a specialty as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Stephanie began her career in the medical field as a respiratory therapist working at UK. She has also worked in the emergency department, ICU, and cath lab as a nurse. Stephanie’s passion wasn’t found until she accepted a position as the director of a crisis unit at Cumberland River Comp. Care seven years ago. It was one of the most rewarding and challenging positions. Stephanie feels that she has found her calling. She truly loves her clients and her career, along with her hectic life. Every day is different, and she is thankful and grateful for each day. Stephanie looks forward to meeting everyone at Renew Recovery.
Stephanie is married with four children ranging in age from 21 to 3 years of age. Her oldest daughter is in the Army, and Stephanie is so proud. She loves cooking and drag racing. Stephanie, along with her husband and children, all drag race.
AdamAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse
Adam has been with Renew Recovery since August 2019. His past experience includes 20 years in emergency medicine in a variety of capacities and 18 years in the United States Army. His Family Nurse Practitioner Degree was obtained in 2008 from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Adam has personal and professional experience with addiction and hopes to provide compassionate care with an understanding of the difficulties of recovery.
Dr. Kronenberg is a board-certified anesthesiologist and is board certified in addiction medicine. He has been a part of the Renew Recovery team for over 10 years. Dr. Kronenberg knew he wanted to use his skills and knowledge to do something worthwhile, which is why he chose to help clients struggling with addiction, and our clients love him because he takes the time to listen and help in the best way that he can. If you ask Dr. Kronenberg what his favorite part of the job is, he will tell you that it’s seeing patients’ lives get so much better. In addition to the work he is doing at Renew Recovery, he is also Treasurer of the Kentucky Society of Addiction Medicine. During his free time, Dr. Kronenberg enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with his wife and kids.
Jonathan received his counseling license in 2015, working primarily in substance use treatment before joining the team at Renew Recovery in 2019. He graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2015 with an MA in Professional Counseling. He continued his education at the University of the Cumberlands to earn an MA in Addiction Counseling in 2017.
Jonathan arrived in Kentucky with his wife in 1995 to work as a full-time volunteer for the Christian Appalachian Project, a human services agency in eastern Kentucky. They expected to stay a year or two before moving on with their chosen careers elsewhere. It was clear, however, that they had found their home. They fell in love with the mountains, the culture, and the people.
Jonathan has always been motivated to serve in areas where there is the most need. After a career teaching college-level mathematics, he found that the counseling profession suited him well. There is a great need in eastern Kentucky for substance use treatment, and the potential to make a difference in the lives of his neighbors drives him in his personal life and in his career.
He has been working at Renew Recovery since the fall of 2019.
Nathan Lloyd received his Bachelor of Arts from Asbury University in 2009 and went on to receive his Master of Social Work degree from Asbury University in 2012. Nathan’s experience in the field of mental health includes experience serving as Program Director for a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program, experience working with adolescents through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, experience with acute mental health as a Crisis Stabilization Unit Clinician, and experience in the field of substance abuse as an IOP Therapist. Nathan’s professional career has been shaped by his compassion and his passion for empowering others to lead successful and fulfilling lives. Nathan grew up overseas in France and has been a Louisville resident since 2014. In his free time, Nathan enjoys music, art, video games, travel, and spending time with his family.
Shawn joined our team at Renew Recovery in 2018, and he has been working diligently to help our clients thrive in recovery ever since. The best part of his job is knowing that he can make a difference in someone’s life. Shawn continuously seeks opportunities to learn more by taking courses in things like how the brain affects addition, spirituality in recovery, and how to best help patients during therapy. When he is not helping clients beat addiction, Shawn enjoys taking road trips, spending time with family and friends, and finding ways to relax.
Stephanie is an LCADC (licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor), a certified BIP (Batterers’ Intervention Program) provider, and a DUI (driving under influence) assessor. She has been a part of our team since 2017. In addition to her certifications, Stephanie has completed courses in suicide prevention and ethics. She loves seeing the ongoing change in people as they begin to recover. In her free time, Stephanie is planning to return to school to become a licensed nurse practitioner. She wants to continue working with clients who are battling addiction. Stephanie is a soccer mom who loves crocheting, making piñatas, and learning a second language!
Mark P.Licensed Professional Counseling Associate
Mark is a graduate of Marshall University with a degree in Mental Health Counseling. He has completed a certificate in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Capella University. He is a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate under supervision. Mark is trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy that works with children, adults, and groups with trauma. He believes in using whatever it takes to help an individual cope with trauma, addictions, life events, and anything they need to help them grow and move past roadblocks in their lives. Mark loves to teach parenting, how to develop their trauma story, and believes everyone has their own recovery story that one has to develop on a daily basis. Mark is married to the love of his life and has a 5-year-old daughter going on 16. He loves Jitsu! He is excited about a new opportunity with Renew Recovery! Mark wants to meet you where you are in your life.
Jordan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and has been working with Renew since September 2019. Jordan grew up in the land of hipsters and coffee shops in Portland, Oregon and has been living in Kentucky since 2018. Jordan utilizes a blend of techniques in his counseling and emphasizes the role of coping skills and personal awareness as tools to help deal with life’s ups and downs. Jordan believes that all people have the ability to make positive changes and values therapy as a means to walk alongside someone who may be struggling. When he’s not in the counseling room Jordan fills his down time with video games, podcasts, cooking and baking, and celebrating nerd culture.
Sarah is a Board Certified and Licensed Professional Art Therapist. She is originally from St. Louis, MO and went to the University of Louisville for graduate school. After completing her Master’s Degree, Sarah spent some time in Denver, CO and St. Louis before moving back to Louisville in 1999. She has been here ever since then and now considers it home. Sarah has worked with all ages (children, adolescents and adults) in a variety of settings including residential programs, educational institutions and home based therapy. Her most recent clinical experience has been with adults affected by substance use disorders and other co-occuring mental health issues. Sarah has two children, a 15 year old girl and a 12 year old boy, who could not be more different but manage to enjoy some family activities together such as game nights, cooking and baking and playing with their puppy. Sarah enjoys live music, Netflix and warm weather. Spending time with family and friends is important to her, as well as having some alone time to re-charge!
Melissa joined the Renew Recovery team in 2016. She has a master’s in education degree and is a national certified counselor (NCC) and licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC). She keeps her training up to date with continuing education courses that range in topics including substance abuse and comorbidity. Melissa has worked with other medication-assisted treatment programs in the past, but she believes that Renew Recovery is the best. Our staff really cares and tries to help clients succeed. The best part of Melissa’s job is seeing a client make progress and rebuild their life. When she’s away from work, Melissa enjoys being at home with her family. She also makes time to read and play video games.
DaraLicensed Clinical Social Worker
Dara joined the team at Renew Recovery, LLC on October 1, 2018. Dara received her Bachelors in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University in 2012 and completed her Masters in Social Work at the University of Louisville in 2013. Dara enjoys working with clients in the outpatient setting where she is able to work on long term, individualized goals and see growth and behavior changes in her clients. Dara loves to bring creativity, compassion, and connection in each client interaction she has. Dara has training and experience in a multitude of evidence-based practices including CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, and more.
